Smart home panel

Summary

The main goal of this project was to design the interface of a simplified smart home panel, that would help the homeowners regulate their home environment based on their specific needs. The panel is going to be connected to a mobile app that helps the user keep track of what is happening at home remotely.

What is a Smart Home?

In a nutshell, a smart home refers to a convenient home setup where appliances and devices can be automatically controlled remotely from anywhere with an internet connection using a mobile or other networked device. Devices in a smart home are interconnected through the internet, allowing the user to control functions such as security access to the home, temperature, lighting, and a home theater remotely.

Scope

Role: UI Designer

Type: UI Design, Visual Design

Timeline: 3 days

Platform: Mobile.

UI Restrictions

● The UI displays and manipulates features for a single room of the home.

● The panel interface and the app interface can be different. However, both are restricted to one view. Every use case needs to be achieved within this single view. There aren’t multiple sections/screens for the user to navigate to.

● Most features listed below allow manipulation, except the ones listed as indicators or referring to the outdoors.

Outcome
Features

● Air quality (outdoors)

● Temperature (indoor and outdoor)

● Humidity (indoor and outdoor)

● Noise level (indicator only)

● Light intensity and color (applicable to all multi-color lamps in the room)

● Surveillance camera status (on/off)

● Door locks (applicable to all doors in the room)

● Music (on/off)

● Notification / warning message area

● Mood/Ambience (Global setting based on several of the features above, E.g.: cozy, energetic, jungle, chilly, cinema...)
